Man United’s Antony sees market value nosedive in just two years – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United’s Antony’s transfer valuation has taken a nosedive in just over two years.

The Brazilian winger had been linked to Old Trafford across the entire summer of 2022 and new manager at the time, Erik ten Hag, was desperate to land his former pupil at Ajax.

After previously selling Lisandro Martinez to United and other players, Ajax did not feel the need to sell Antony and only did so when the Red Devils put a massive £80.75m on the table, eclipsed only by Paul Pogba’s signing in 2016.

Antony got off to the perfect start, scoring on his debut versus Arsenal and finding the net in his next two matches in the Premier League.

Despite this quick start, things have gone from bad to worse for the Brazilian as he has only scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 86 appearances for the club.

His form has been so bad that he regularly finds himself on the bench, clearly behind Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo.

According to Transfermarkt – a widely trusted football statistic website – Antony’s value has plummeted over the years.

When signing for the club in 2022, Antony was valued at £62.8million. He had just scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in the 2021/2022 season, as Ajax won another league title under Ten Hag.

However, after 12 months of inconsistent performances at United, this fell to £50.2million.

Antony did score eight goals in his first season, including a memorable winner against FC Barcelona in the Europa League but this was mixed in with numerous poor showings. Nonetheless, after a rancid 2023-2024 season, Antony’s value plummeted to £21 million.

Now, after starting the season very much as fourth choice with only one start to his name and 137 minutes of action, he is now said to be worth just £16.8 million. All in all, this means that in just over two years, his market value has dropped by £46 million.

With his gametime unlikely to increase much more or his form likely to pick up, it will worry United’s financial team just how little return they can expect from a sale of the under-performing winger.
