Manchester United full-back Noussair Mazraoui set for swift return – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United full-back Noussair Mazraoui is unlikely to spend a lengthy period on the sidelines following a heart surgery.

United are only seven Premier League games into the season, and they have already faced fifteen separate cases of injury or illness leading to a player missing at least one match this campaign.

In particular, the full-back area has proven to be a major cause of concern for Erik ten Hag, owing to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injuries. The two left-backs are yet to feature for the Red Devils this term.

Despite their worrying fitness, United opted not to sign a new left-back during the summer transfer window.

This situation forced Ten Hag to deploy Diogo Dalot on the left flank and play the new right-back Noussair Mazraoui in his natural position. So far both players have done relatively well, improving the side’s build-up play with their technical quality.

At the start of the international break, the Moroccan star underwent a minor precautionary corrective procedure.

As things stand, Dalot is the only fit senior full back at United. However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Mazraoui is expected to be back in action swiftly.

Their report reads: “Club sources have said Noussair Mazraoui’s corrective heart procedure is, thankfully, not alarming and he is expected to be available within three weeks.”

The brief lay-off means Mazraoui would be unavailable to face Brentford (October 19).

However, The Peoples Person recently relayed a report claiming both Shaw and Malacia are nearing returns. The Englishman last featured for United in February, while the Dutch talent has remained unavailable since the summer of 2023.

It will be interesting to see how Ten Hag lines up his side immediately after the international break.

Earlier this season, the former Ajax manager played midfielder Toby Collyer at left-back against Barnsley in the League Cup. Meanwhile, with his impressive performances at youth level, Harry Amass has shown he could also be an option.
