Manchester United ran out 2-1 winners against Brentford on Saturday and as usual, they had to do it the hard way, coming back from a goal down to secure the victory.
At half-time, Erik ten Hag must have been feeling the heat with plenty of outlets claiming he could be sacked if he failed to overcome Thomas Frank’s men, with the Dane reportedly in the race to replace the Dutchman.
But his forwards purred in the second half and ensured a return to winning ways and the former Ajax coach must stick with this particular frontline moving forward instead of tinkering too much.
It was fantastic to see Marcus Rashford, who has made no secret of his desire to play on the inside left channel, starring on the opposite flank.
Rashford attracting interest
He assisted Alejandro Garnacho’s goal and could have picked up more assists but for profligacy from his fellow forwards. It has been far from smooth sailing for the Mancunian but he has shown signs of returning to his best self.
In the whole of last season, the England international managed only eight goals and six assists and in 11 games this term, he has already notched four goals and three assists.
And with the 26-year-old slowly returning back to his best, interest in his services is also on the rise with The Peoples Person recently relaying that Paris Saint-Germain are keen to secure the Englishman’s services.
Now, according to Teamtalk, the Parisian giants are not the only sides interested in Rashford with Bayern Munich and Marseille also keeping a close tab on proceedings with a January exit not impossible but one INEOS want to avoid.
The new co-owners, for their part, are eager to see their academy graduate return to his best and they are even open to offering him a new contract to ward off potential suitors with his current deal valid till 2028.
“Bayern Munich and Marseille have joined Paris Saint-Germain in keeping tabs on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, though the Red Devils are eager to keep him, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal.
INEOS open to keeping him long-term
“Sources state that Rashford leaving Old Trafford is not impossible as the January transfer window approaches. Crucially, though, Rashford has big supporters at United, and club chiefs would make any exit difficult.
“United would also like to extend his current terms beyond the summer of 2027. Part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe hopes to see the forward get back to his best and re-emerge as the poster boy of the club as they push to get back to the top of the Premier League.”
Marseille would find it difficult to cough up the funds required to land the United No 10, while INEOS will make it as difficult as possible for PSG and Bayern to acquire their fan favourite.
Ten Hag will hope Rashford can avoid all this outside noise and carry on this momentum and silence his critics moving forward. Fans are desperate to see the red-hot Rashford they all know and love.
