Manchester United stars want Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay on after Ruben Amorim takes charge – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have officially announced the impending arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon as the new head coach following Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

The Portuguese tactician will arrive on November 11 with the game against Ipswich Town set to be his first game in charge of the club.

Till then, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was given interim control following the former Ajax coach’s departure, will continue to lead the troops.

The former United striker began in stunning fashion as his Red Devils side thrashed Leicester City 5-2 to setup a mouthwatering Carabao Cup quarterfinal tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ruud’s winning start to life

The players played with a lot of freedom as opposed to the rigid style under Ten Hag and they were free to express themselves and INEOS will hope this continues in the games to come ahead of Amorim’s arrival.

Initially, it was expected that the ex-Netherlands striker would depart the club following the Portuguese tactician’s arrival but after the game against the Foxes, he reiterated his desire to stay and help the new manager.

And while the Sporting Lisbon manager will bring three of his coaches to Manchester, he is keen to keep a few existing coaches on his panel as he wants inside knowledge about the club and how it was operating in the past.

And Van Nistelrooy could be the one to stay with The Sun reporting that the United stars are keen for the fan favourite to stay on.

The United squad feel he is easier to communicate with as compared to the ex-manager and that the 48-year-old understands what it is like to play for this huge club.

“MANCHESTER United’s first team squad are desperate for interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay on after Ruben Amorim takes over in the Old Trafford dugout.

“Van Nistelrooy was appointed assistant manager and quickly formed a bond with the squad, who regarded him as easier to communicate with than ten Hag, would could blow hot and cold with players.

United stars want Ruud to stay

A source told the publication, “The players all really really want Ruud to stay on and have made their feelings clear internally that they believe he should remain at the club, even if and when Amorim takes over as boss.

“To a man, they all like him and get on with him and they also respect him because they know he understands what it’s like to play for United and the pressures that come with it. They are hopeful that he stays involved in the setup.”

Van Nistelrooy cannot afford to get carried away by all this talk with three huge games coming up before Amorim arrives. On Sunday, the three-time Champions League winners take on Chelsea, followed by Thursday’s Europa League clash against PAOK.

His reign is set to come to an end after the Premier League game against Leicester on November 10. He will be keen to ensure that the new head coach takes over with the team full of confidence with multiple wins under their belts.
