Ruud van Nistelrooy reacts to Man United’s appointment of Ruben Amorim after draw vs. Chelsea – Man United News And Transfer News

Interim Manchester United boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed that he is eager to meet Ruben Amorim and know him better.

United confirmed Amorim’s appointment on Friday as a replacement for the sacked Erik ten Hag.

Amorim is set to officially take charge of the Red Devils on November 11, after Sporting Lisbon’s matches vs. Manchester City and Braga respectively.

Van Nistelrooy was in the dugout for United’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday. Bruno Fernandes gave the Red Devils the lead but Chelsea equalised four minutes later through Moises Caicedo.

The result has left the club in 13th place in the Premier League table with just 12 points from 10 games and already 13 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Van Nistelrooy spoke to reporters after the final whistle and said about Amorim, “I look forward to get to know him better.”

“Obviously, he has done very well in Portugal, he’s a very young, talented coach and did well for a long time over a longer spell in Portugal. So, as I said, looking forward to keep helping the club forward and that’s my main goal.”

“I haven’t spoken to him and, at this moment, there is nothing planned for any conversation at all.”

“I am doing my job to prepare for the Thursday and Sunday games and, in the meantime, I wait for how things develop in the communication towards the new head coach.”

One the draw with Chelsea, the Dutch coach remarked, “Today, we are slightly disappointed because we didn’t score the second with the opportunities we had, that is the feeling for me personally and also the dressing room.”

He added, “The last games we played we lost some points because we didn’t convert our chances. The good thing is we create a lot all through the season so far.”

“In that sense, I am not too worried. When the players get in the flow of it with results coming and confidence growing, then goals will come.”

United return to Europa League action on Thursday when they meet Greek outfit PAOK FC.
