Heather Knight helps Sydney Thunder set an imposing total
After winning the toss, Brisbane Heat opted to bowl first, hoping to restrict Sydney Thunder to a manageable total. However, Thunder’s top order delivered a solid performance, spearheaded by Knight’s commanding 59 off 34 balls, which included ten boundaries. Phoebe Litchfield also played a brisk knock, contributing 40 runs off 25 balls with seven fours, while Chamari Athapaththu set the tone with 33 runs off 25 deliveries. Thunder closed their innings at 170/5, giving Brisbane a challenging target to chase. Jess Jonassen was the standout bowler for the Heat, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in her 4-over spell.
Brisbane Heat’s chase falters despite Charli Knott’s fighting fifty
Brisbane Heat started their chase with an aggressive approach, but early wickets kept the run rate in check. Grace Harris’ 41 off 31 balls showed promise, but wickets fell regularly, keeping the Thunder in control. Charli Knott emerged as a lone warrior for Brisbane, scoring a valiant 55 off 37 balls, including six fours and a six. Despite her efforts, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to build partnerships, with no other batter crossing the 10-run mark. Brisbane was eventually bowled out for 151 in 19.1 overs.
