Andre Onana continued his fine start to the season with another clean sheet for his country in Cameroon’s 0-0 draw with Namibia in the African Cup of Nations qualifying.
It was the 10th time this season he has not conceded any goals in a game, after keeping two clean sheets in a row for Manchester United against PAOK and Leicester City.
Onana has made a strong start to the current season as he leads the race for the Premier League Golden Glove with five clean sheets in the league and made world-class saves to rescue point versus Crystal Palace and later Fenerbahce in the Europa League.
Cameroon dominated possession with 63% but Onana was busy in nets as Les Lions Indomptables faced 15 shots on their goal.
Onana was given a score of 7.2 on Sofascore as he kept a fifth clean sheet in six AFCON qualifying games.
The keeper made two key saves in the match, both coming in the first half of action. The first was a strong parry when the Namibian winger smashed the ball across the goal and he palmed the ball up in the air.
Fortunately, a Cameroonian defender was on the line to clear the ball for a corner.
Onana was once again in action as he got down sharply to bundle the ball away for another corner after the Namibian striker’s swift turn and shot.
He made one successful run out where he raced out of the goal to sweep the ball from harm’s way and made one high claim to alleviate the pressure from his side.
The 28 year old had 42 touches of the ball and completed 26 out of his 33 passes, for a passing accuracy of 79%.
He also connected with four of his 10 long balls up the pitch.
Onana will be content with his performance as Cameroon remain top of their group and he will be hoping for a fourth clean sheet on the bounce for club and country when his side take on Zimbabwe on Tuesday afternoon.
