Devastating blow for Man United with Ella Toone set to be sidelined for several weeks with calf injury – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United Women star Ella Toone has reportedly been ruled out of action for several weeks due to a calf injury.

Toone was not part of the matchday squad for United’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday afternoon at the King Power Stadium.

United clinched all three points courtesy of goals from Elisabeth Terland and Celine Bizet.

Marc Skinner spoke to the media and confirmed that Toone will miss both the team’s midweek trip to Everton in the Women’s League Cup and their WSL meeting with Chelsea next weekend.

It’s understood that Toone sustained the injury during a training session on Friday.

Skinner said, “Yesterday in training Ella took a calf injury.”

“She was running and just felt something. She will miss the next two games, she will miss Everton and Chelsea, then we will speak later in the week to know the scale of it.”

“Potentially [she will be available for England] – we don’t know that yet.”

Even more concerning is that according to The Daily Mail’s Kathryne Batte, Toone is unlikely to play any competitive fixtures this year.

Batte wrote on X, “Understand Ella Toone has torn her calf and is set to be ruled out for six weeks, meaning she’ll miss England’s games with the United States and Switzerland.”

“Likely to be back in the New Year. A blow for Manchester United and the Lionesses.”

Toone’s unavailability for the fixture vs. Leicester marks the end of a record-breaking run for Toone as it’s the first time she has missed a game since United were promoted to the WSL in the 2019/20 campaign.

The 25-year-old appeared for United in their 96 previous league matches in succession – the most of any outfield star for the same club in league history.

Toone has not scored a goal so far this season.
