Ahead of the clash against Australia in the Boxing Day Test, the Indian team has been spending some time in the nets to fine tune their skills and re-gain some momentum. In one such practice session an Indian cricket fan asked Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to hit a six, and the 37-year-old replied in a similar sportsperson spirit!
Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture for a fan
The Indian skipper was batting in the nets when an enthusiastic fan raided his net practice session “Rohit Bhai chakka maaro..” was the request from the fan as Rohit played an incoming ball. Just as he heard the request, the Indian skipper looked up towards the fan and said, “Who is that? You want six?” Rohit then took his batting stance once again and went on with the practice session.

An uphill task for the Indian skipper in the Boxing Day Test
Rohit is surrounded by a number of challenges at the Boxing Day Test in which the thrill of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy is anticipated to reach its peak. The first task is to regain form with the bat and score some runs for the team. Rohit has been struggling with the bat lately. The Indian captain has scored just 19 runs in the 3 Test matches of the ongoing series in Australia. The last century he scored in a Test was against England back in March this year. Rohit has struggled as a captain too. Of late, he lost a Test series against New Zealand at home. It was a first series win for the Kiwis and the first time New Zealand has won more than two Test matches since the 1988-89 season.
India are at a crucial juncture of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After winning the first Test match at Perth, the team slipped up in the Day-Night encounter against the Aussies at Adelaide. The third Test at Brisbane ended in a draw. A win at Melbourne will mean that the quest of dominating the Australian team in their home remains alive.
