Top 5 highest team totals in the IPL: SRH breaks RCB’s 11-year-old record

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batters lit up the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday (March 27), posting a record-breaking score of 277/3 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This mammoth total eclipses the previous record of 263/5 set by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI) back in 2013.

Sunrisers Hyderabad rewrite IPL history

SRH’s batting onslaught was spearheaded by a trio of in-form batters. Travis Head anchored the innings with 62 off 24 balls, showcasing some clean hitting with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Joining the party were Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen, who continued the momentum provided by Head with their blazing half-centuries. Abhishek smashed a record-breaking 16-ball fifty, laced with 3 fours and 7 sixes, becoming the fastest SRH batsman to reach the milestone in IPL history. Klaasen, meanwhile, smashed 80 not-out runs off just 34 balls, including 4 fours and 9sixes.

This dominant batting display from SRH rewrote the record books for the highest team total in the IPL. Their score of 277/3 surpassed the previous record held by RCB for over a decade.
