How do you keep all of these Chelsea players happy? The answer of course is you can not, it is impossible to do so.
Football players, surprise surprise, just want to play football. And when you have so much quality in this Chelsea squad now, some are not going to play and as a result, some are going to get unhappy.
SPTC sources have heard that Christopher Nkunku is not causing any problems within the camp or kicking up any dust, but he is unhappy about not playing as much as he expected to be playing. We reported this weeks ago and it was backed up by a report from The Athletic last week.
Of course he is unhappy, he wants to play football. Which is why I was very surprised that Enzo Maresca ignored him yesterday in our 2-1 win against Leicester City.
Nkunku did come off the bench as a second half sub, but there was good chances for him to start the game with many players missing or not being fit enough to start.
I know Nkunku will now be hugely frustrated not getting a start when there was a chance to start him. However, Joao Felix has also probably done enough to deserve a start as well, and he more than took his chance to start this game. So the decisions for Maresca are so tough, but his decisions yesterday paid off and proved to be correct as Felix played well and Chelsea won the game.
I always say it’s a great problem to have. But I can absolutely now see Nkunku asking to leave in the summer, and I fully expect Chelsea to entertain serious offers for him then as well.
