Erik ten Hag insists he still has the support of the Man United hierachy despite drab draw vs. Aston Villa – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that he still retains the backing of the club’s bosses, despite failing to beat Aston Villa.

United could only manage a point against Unai Emery’s men in what was a lacklustre draw. The Red Devils barely fashioned any chances and at times, appeared like they were happy to settle for a share of the points.

Heading into the match, Ten Hag was under pressure to oversee a win amidst suggestions that he could be sacked if things went badly.

United have failed to win their last five games across all competitions. The last time the club tasted victory was on 17th September, when they thrashed Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup.

After the final whistle at Villa Park, Ten Hag spoke to Sky Sports and was asked about his future.

The Dutchman told the news outlet that he remains in contact with the top brass and that they both have a shared long-term view.

Ten Hag remarked, “We always speak, every week we speak. We are all on board together, on one page, we know what we are working through it’s a long-term process.”

“We have come through two very tough away games. This is a team, we showed the belief and faith we have.”

United have made two their worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign, winning just two of their opening seven fixtures. United have also scored just five goals so far in the competition.

Ten Hag was made aware of this and responded, “I think it’s the fourth clean sheet this season. You see we had a very good organisation and togetherness. There was good character and good spirit as a team. Determined, resilient.”

“We almost didn’t concede a chance, when you defend like this and get some luck, in the end they had a big chance but it was almost the only chance I think.”

“We created some chances, also not so many chances. We hit the crossbar and also Rashford had chances. But the two teams were really balanced.”

“In Porto our build-up was brilliant, so good in the first 25 minutes, we out-played Porto. Also Palace, in possession we were so good, we have had games this season where we are good. But today we didn’t create too many chances, but also we played a great team.”

He added, “We create loads of chances in our seven games but we have to step up. We have to take into consideration Hojlund is returning, he’s still coming up to full fitness. But others are stepping up. I was impressed from Rashford, also Garnacho is so good, and Antony at the end.”

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United bosses are set to meet in London on Tuesday for a high-stakes meeting. It’s likely that Ten Hag’s fate will be discussed then.
