Galatasaray have reportedly come up with a “crazy plan” intended to keep Victor Osimhen and foil Manchester United’s attempts at luring him to Old Trafford in January.
United are believed to be keen on securing reinforcements in the striker position, either in January or the summer transfer window.
Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have been far from convincing and have proven they cannot be relied upon to regularly find the back of the net for United. This is where Osimhen comes in.
Osimhen – who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli – has been linked to United at various points of his career but a move has never got over the line. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are in a three-way battle for the Nigerian, who is valued at a whooping €75 million.
The possibility of a swap deal has been suggested, with Napoli thought to be admirers of three United players – Zirkzee, Hojlund and wantaway forward Marcus Rashford.
Fabrizio Romano recently insisted that to secure Osimhen’s services in January, United will need to trigger his release clause and guarantee him a hefty salary of up to €11m net per season.
Now Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that Galatasaray “have prepared a crazy plan” for Osimhen in a bid to keep him in their ranks.
Fanatik add that a meeting was held between United and Napoli, where a transfer was approved.
“The Red Devils, who want to strengthen their squad with a great striker in January, held a meeting with Napoli in order to obtain Osimhen’s transfer fee. While the Italian club approved this transfer, the Nigerian star gave a response that would reassure the Galatasaray community.”
“The 25-year-old center forward said, “I’m at Galatasaray until the end of the season,” and conveyed to his suitors that he closed the door to all offers during the mid-season break.”
On Galatasaray’s plan, Fanatik note, “Galatasaray Management is working hard to get Osimhen’s transfer fee. President Dursun Özbek and his staff are preparing to cover the 75 million Euro transfer fee of the star striker, especially with two major sponsorships from China.”
It’s understood that “work is being done” to ensure funds are in place to bankroll the Osimhen operation.
So far this season, Osimhen has scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 15 matches across the Super Lig and Europa League.
