IPL 2024: Here’s why LSG pacer Mayank Yadav not playing today’s match against DC

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav missed the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals on Friday, April 12.

LSG skipper KL Rahul confirmed at the toss that Arshad Khan would take Yadav’s place in the playing XI at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Reason for Mayank Yadav’s absence

Mayank experienced discomfort in his lower abdomen during LSG’s previous match against Gujarat Titans (GT). He bowled only one over in that encounter, conceding 13 runs before leaving the field. This followed a noticeable drop in his bowling speed compared to his impressive performances in the initial games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he consistently surpassed 140 kmph.

An MRI scan revealed a minor swelling at the top of his hip, so he is likely to miss the next two games as well. The 21-year-old pacer might only be fit ahead of the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 19.
