Jose Mourinho eyeing January reunion with Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has enjoyed a fine personal campaign, seeing a major rise in minutes and emerging as the club’s joint second-top scorer.

Last season, after receiving only 14 starts across all competitions, the Dane went up to then-manager Erik ten Hag to make his dissatisfaction known.

And the Dutchman had leaned heavily on him again this term, with the 32-year-old starting nine times already, while netting four times and also registering three assists.

However, with the former Ajax coach no longer at the helm, Ruben Amorim wants intensity from his players and the Denmark international does not have the legs to consistently run the midfield any more in the Portuguese coach’s system.

Eriksen’s future

The former Tottenham Hotspur star’s contract ends in 2025 and there are plans to move him on in January itself, thereby recouping a small fee in the process while also saving on the midfielder’s wages of 150,000 per week (as per capology).

A number of clubs want the classy midfield operator, including Real Betis, his former outfit Ajax, Anderlecht as well as Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

And as revealed by Turkish outlet STAR, Fener are in the lead with former United boss Jose Mourinho giving the green light for the transfer.

“For Christian Eriksen, Real Betis from LaLiga, Ajax from the Eredivisie and Anderlecht from the Belgian Pro League have entered the picture.

“While it was said that Ajax was ahead of other teams in the transfer market, a surprising development came for the Super League giants.

Fener want Eriksen

“Christian Eriksen is also on the agenda of the Super League teams Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray. It has been stated that the yellow-navy team is close to adding the player to its squad.

“It has been claimed that Christian Eriksen, whose transfer was reportedly given the green light by Jose Mourinho, will come to Turkey in January and sign for Fenerbahçe.”

Mourinho had briefly worked with Eriksen during his time in North London and the Portuguese manager wants the Dane to come to Istanbul and the Turkish league would certainly suit Eriksen, whose passing remains as top-notch as ever.

Whether the Turkish side will pay any fee to the Red Devils is not made clear in the report. The Danish star has a market value of €8 million but since the Old Trafford side had signed him on a free, they might not ask for too much.
