Man United target Geovany Quenda seems destined to leave Sporting Lisbon – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about Sporting Lisbon’s 17-year-old sensation, Geovany Quenda, numerous times as the player is set to leave his current club.

The youngster has broken through this season and become an integral part of the Portuguese champions’ side.

The right winger has played 18 games already this season, racking up two goals and two assists in that time.

With United lacking firepower on the wings and Antony’s future up in the air, it seems likely that they will prioritise strengthening their attack out wide and incoming head coach Ruben Amorim clearly rates the Portuguese youngster highly.

It has previously been reported Amorim wants the teenage sensation at United but that the club is likely to miss out on the player as the Bundesliga clubs of Bayer Leverkusen and Red Bull Leipzig harbour a strong interest in the winger.

It has also been suggested that Sporting consider the player unsellable and United have “no chance” of landing the mercurial talent.

Catalan paper Mundo Deportivo contradict this flow of events however, contending that not only have United enquired numerous times about the 17 year old’s future but he is also destined to move away from the Portuguese capital in the next few months.

Described as the “Portuguese Lamine Yamal”, his progress is being carefully monitored by some of England’s biggest clubs but crucially, “one of the teams that has already called the offices of Jose Alvalade the most times to ask about Geovany Quenda is Manchester United, a club that will soon be joined by Rúben Amorim, precisely the coach with whom the young Portuguese talent has landed in professional football with the Sporting de Portugal shirt.”

Nonetheless, United will face quite a fight on their hands as Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal are also linked to a player who is described as “one who is destined to be one of the best players in the world during the next decade.”

Interestingly, the outlet takes a very different stance to previous reports and suggests, “what seems clear is that Geovany Quenda’s time at the Lisbon team already has an expiration date despite the fact that it has just begun.”

They claim that his transfer value will be significantly higher than the €15 million that Transfermarkt set it as but that won’t be a problem for the riches of the Premier League.

United will certainly hope that when it becomes clear that Quenda is on the move, his ties to Amorim will play a major role in his decision as they continue to try and collect some of the most breathtaking young talents in world football.
