Manchester United 2-3 Nottingham Forest: Player Ratings – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford. Here are our player ratings from the game.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Andre Onana 1 – What was he doing for Forest’s second goal? Morgan Gibbs-White fired it straight at him but he somehow fluffed his lines and allowed it to roll past him. Was equally at fault for Chris Wood’s goal, as he just stood there while the ball went in, failing to even try and intervene. Undoubtedly his worst performance of the season.

Leny Yoro 5 – Decent outing on his first start for United. Kept it nice and tidy. Should have perhaps got a little bit tighter to Chris Wood for Forest’s third of the match.

Matthijs de Ligt 5 – Played a big role in United’s equalising goal in the first half, as he demonstrated great patience in possession. Made a mess of a simple clearance, which gave Jota Silva a chance to aim a shot at Onana.

Lisandro Martinez 2 – Easily beaten by Nikola Milenkovic for Forest’s opener. Like Onana, he was also culpable for Wood’s goal.

Amad Diallo 7 – Quiet for large spells of the game as Nico Williams kept him at bay and United were channelling most of their attacks down the left side. Came alive after Forest re-took the lead and didn’t look back from then. Fantastic work to beat his man before squaring the ball to Fernandes, who expertly found the back of the net.

Kobbie Mainoo 4 – Not at his usual standards. Wasn’t very influential in midfield. Made a few back-passes in the second half that clearly irked Ruben Amorim.

Manuel Ugarte 6 – Undoubtedly United’s best player in the opening 45 minutes. Dominated the midfield and was crucial in the lead-up to Hojlund’s strike. Slightly faded in the second half as Forest stamped their authority into proceedings.

Diogo Dalot 6 – Didn’t do an awful lot wrong. Delivered two or three sublime first-time crosses that were begging to be finished.

Alejandro Garnacho 4 – Another laboured performance. Contributed very little in attack and was rightfully the first to be hooked. Ola Aina was comfortable all game.

Bruno Fernandes 8 – Nice flick for Hojlund’s goal. Hit the crossbar with a stupendous free-kick effort. Brilliant finish for United’s second of the match. Much better in possession except for when he surrendered the ball to Forest for Gibbs-White’s goal.

Rasmus Hojlund 7 – Right place at the right time to restore parity after Forest’s early opener. Much more involved in general play.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford 6 – Tried to make a difference by delivering a few crosses inside the box.

Noussair Mazraoui 6 – Looked to push United higher up the pitch from his right-centre-back role. Combined well with Amad.

Harry Maguire 6 – Comfortable as the middle man in Amorim’s three-man defence.

Joshua Zirkzee 5 – Some nice touches and passes but that was just about it.

Mason Mount 5 – Didn’t do much when he came on.
