Manchester United send scouts to watch Gremio’s 18-year-old gem Gustavo Nunes – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United reportedly sent scouts to monitor Gremio wonderkid Gustavo Nunes, who is attracting interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.

Brazilian outlet Gremio Avalanche reveals that a United representative “caught the attention” of Gremio fans during the side’s Copa Libertadores game against Chilean side Huachipato last Tuesday.

The publication explains that the United scout was somewhat left “frustrated” because the main target of his attention, Nunes, was not included in the starting XI and had to be content with a place on the bench.

The 18-year-old was thrust into the action in the second half as Gremio suffered a 2-0 defeat. Due to the limited time he was on the pitch, Nunes couldn’t make the desired impact.

Gremio Avalanche state about the teenager, “At 18 years old, Gustavo Nunes is already considered the main asset of the Grêmio squad, with several Brazilian and European clubs interested in his services.”

“In addition to Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Norwich, Wolverhampton and the City Group are keeping an eye on the player.”

“Recently, even Barcelona sought information about him.”

Nunes, who predominantly plays in the left-wing position, has scored once and weighed in with two assists in 11 matches since making his senior Gremio debut in February.

Gremio are believed to want a fee in the region of €20m to part ways with the talented forward.

The youngster started attracting attention after a sensational performance for the Gremio youth team at the Copa Sao Paulo de Juniores where he managed an impressive three goals during their run to the last-16 of that tournament.

Last week, The Sun relayed that Wolves and Championship outfit Norwich City have already enquired about the possibility of getting a deal for Nunes over the line.

The Sun also noted that Nunes’ agents have been informed that Man City will table an offer of £18m for the player as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Should United elect to press forward with their efforts to land the player, the 20-time English champions will need to move fast to ensure they’re not pipped to Nunes’ services.

Considering how successful the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Willy Kambwala have been integrated into Ten Hag’s senior set-up, there’s a case to be made that Nunes could be convinced his future lies at Old Trafford as there is a clear pathway into the first team.
