Manchester United under 18s will face Preston North End in fourth round of FA Youth Cup should they beat Coventry City – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United will play Preston North End in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, should they make it past Coventry City.

United have a storied history in the Youth Cup, having won it 11 times, twice more than Chelsea.

The Busby Babes dominated the trophy in the 1950s, winning their first competition in 1953 and a total of five in the decade.

The club’s most famous Youth Cup victory is probably the Class of 92’s 1992 victory with the likes of Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Gary Neville participating in the win.

United last won the competition in 2022 with current first teamers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho taking part.

The Red Devils will face the Sky Blues at the Leigh Sports Village next Wednesday according to the club’s official website, in their opening fixture of the present-day competition.

If they manage to get the win, they will be rewarded with another home tie against local rivals Preston.

Preston arrived after stunning Liverpool 4-1 in the previous round.

The fixture will need to take place before the 18th of January with a fixed date not being announced yet.

Much will be expected of the current side as United’s under 18s have made light work of any competition they have had.

Not only did United’s under 18s win the treble last season but they are also dominating the league this year, having won all ten of their games in the current campaign.

Excitingly, there are also a plethora of top talents that United fans will be desperate to see such as new signings Chido Obi and Sekou Kone, when he recovers from injury.

There are also numerous talents who have been at the club a while such as James Scanlon, Tyler Fletcher and Godwill Kukoni, who will surely captivate the imagination of the fans and who will aim to put their names down in United folklore with the side’s 12th win in the competition.
