New Zealand Cricket has named the Black Caps’ ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, with Mitchell Santner appointed as the interim captain. The limited overs leg is scheduled to be played from November 9-19 in Dambulla and Pallekele.
Mitchell Santner’s leadership and maiden call-ups
Santner will lead the Black Caps on Sri Lanka tour, while permanent ODI and T20I captains shall be decided during the New Zealand summer later this year. This upcoming white-ball series will be crucial as they looks to build depth in their squad leading up to the ICC Champions Trophy in February 2025 and the ODI World Cup in 2027.
Among the exciting additions are Nathan Smith and Mitchell Hay, both receiving their maiden call-ups after impressive domestic performances. Smith was recently named NZC’s Men’s Domestic Player of the Year, while Hay has shown promise in New Zealand A matches.
