Noussair Mazraoui dazzles as Manchester United are held by Chelsea in 1-1 draw – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United played out a frustrating 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock from the spot-kick after goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was judged to have brought down Rasmus Hojlund.

United’s lead lasted for only four minutes, as Moises Caicedo rifled in a powerful shot to ensure the spoils were shared.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men had 46% possession in comparison to Chelsea’s 54% share of the ball. United managed four shots on target from their total 11 cracks at goal. The visitors, on the other hand, fired 12 shots but only three required Andre Onana to intervene.

The Red Devils put together 402 passes with a pass accuracy of 79%. Chelsea strung 62 passes more with a slightly higher pass completion rate of 83%.

One of United’s better performers during a match that lacked quality, especially in the final third, was Noussair Mazraoui.

From the first minute to the last, he was brilliant and barely put a foot wrong – an impressive feat considering he played at left-back.

During the time he was on the pitch, Mazraoui made two clearances and as many interceptions. He also blocked one shot.

The Morocco international successfully put in six tackles. He delved into 16 ground duels and came out on top on 13 occasions.

Mazraoui touched the ball 63 times and successfully found his teammates with 33 of the 36 passes he attempted, managing a pass accuracy of 92%.

The 26-year-old tried to connect with one long ball but he failed to find his intended target.

Mazraoui embarked on five dribbles, completing all five of them.

United have struggled at left-back all season amidst injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia but Mazraoui can certainly provide a solution for the team on that side of the pitch.

The club’s next assignment will see them come up against PAOK in the Europa League.
