Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford has endured a nightmare season at Old Trafford.
The 26 year old was electric last year, picking up the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and enjoying his most productive season in front of goal with 30 strikes.
However, this season he has only scored eight goals in all competitions, and we are in the middle of April.
A combination of poor form on the pitch and problems off it have led to numerous rumours about the striker’s future.
The Englishman put in another dismal performance in yesterday’s 2-2 draw away to Bournemouth.
Rashford for his part, has always insisted publicly that he wants to stay at the club but rumours of a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have never completely gone away.
In fact, it was reported just yesterday that PSG were still interested in recruiting the attacker in the summer window.
However, The Sun have now reported that the French club will not be offering the English striker an escape route from Manchester United.
The outlet reports, “Marcus Rashford’s future is at Old Trafford after Paris Saint-Germain made it clear they have no interest in signing the struggling frontman”.
It is claimed that a source told the paper, “PSG have never been interested in signing Marcus.
“And given his struggles on and off the pitch this season, they have given it no consideration at all. He will not be moving to PSG.
“He might benefit from the noise around a possible transfer going away so he can concentrate on reigniting his United career”.
While it is quite common knowledge that Paris Saint-Germain have certainly been keen on signing Rashford in the past, it is definitely possible that they may have no genuine interest this time around.
The player would command a large fee, having signed a new expensive deal in the summer and INEOS don’t seem to have a clear view on the issue.
There have been mixed reports from Sir Jim Ratcliffe being keen to keep Rashford at the club to rumours that nobody is safe from the petro-chemical company’s potential cull of the under-performing playing squad.
What we can be sure of is that the Marcus Rashford transfer story will continue to rumble on into the summer, especially if he continues to perform as poorly as he has done throughout the season to date.
