Ralf Rangnick rules himself out of Bayern Munich move – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has ruled himself out of the running for the soon-to-be vacant Bayern Munich job.

With many top teams, such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool, losing their manager and numerous clubs’ coaches in precarious positions, such as United’s Erik ten Hag, this summer should prove to be an epic game of managerial musical chairs.

After a disappointing domestic season, it was announced that Thomas Tuchel will step down as Bayern Munich coach at the end of the current campaign.

The German has been linked to the Old Trafford hotseat should INEOS see fit to dismiss Ten Hag from his post.

Tuchel is reported to be very keen on taking over at United and it has been said that he would even reject Barcelona if it meant he could manage at the Theatre of Dreams.

As a result, a range of names have been linked to the vacant Bayern role, including two surprising former United coaches, Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rangnick suffered an horrendous spell as interim coach in the 2021-2022 season at Old Trafford where his side had a win percentage of well under 50% in all competitions and finished the season in 6th place.

However, the German was praised for his direct attitude to the problems at United and his comments about the side needing “open-heart” surgery have rung true as new owners, INEOS, prepare to do just that at playing and executive level.

After his spell at United, the former Red Bull Leipzig manager took over the reins at the Austrian national team in 2022 and he has successfully guided them to the Euros this summer.

Shockingly, it was reported that Bayern Munich had him in their sights to replace Tuchel and that he had made the shortlist earlier this month.

However, the 65 year old has poured cold water over the notion of a return to club management just now.

When asked by Sport 1 about whether he had spoken to Bayern Munich he retorted, “No. Why should I? I feel comfortable here. I still have a contract until 2026 and our goal and our path will continue after the Euros”.

Therefore, it looks like the Bundesliga champions will need to look elsewhere to find a replacement for the much-maligned Tuchel.
