In a high-stakes clash between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, Jasprit Bumrah‘s fiery spell and Dinesh Karthik‘s remarkable striking emerged as standout performances.
Bumrah’s exceptional bowling spell yielded 5/21 in his four overs, after the Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first. His feat marked the first time a bowler has taken a five-wicket haul against RCB in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Tim David’s stunning catch
One of the most memorable moments of the game came during the 17th over of RCB’s innings. MI’s Tim David made a stunning catch to dismiss RCB skipper Faf du Plessis off Bumrah’s bowling. Bumrah delivered a low full toss that Du Plessis failed to time correctly, and David, running in from long-on, executed a perfect slide to make the catch inches above the ground.

RCB post massive total
RCB’s innings were highlighted by strong performances from their captain, Du Plessis, who notched his first half-century of the season, and Rajat Patidar. Karthik provided the final flourish with an unbeaten 53 off just 24 balls, including five fours and four sixes, propelling RCB to a challenging total of 196/8.
“It was a good day. One of those days where what I was executing was working. Wicket looked sticky (early on). When the first over was bowled, I realised ball was gripping a bit. Wanted to bowl a good hard length. I’ve been doing this for 11 years, so I’m used to it,” said Bumrah in the mid-innings break.
